Why use this calculator

What is the difference between adding and removing GST?

Adding GST starts from a price that does not yet include tax and works out the total. Removing GST (also called reverse GST) starts from a price that already includes tax and works backwards to find the original amount.

Does this work for VAT as well as GST?

Yes. GST and VAT are calculated the same way — only the rate and the name differ. Presets are included for India, the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore and the UAE, and you can type any custom rate.

What are CGST and SGST?

In India, GST on a sale within the same state is split equally between central GST (CGST) and state GST (SGST). Tick the split option to see both halves.

Are my figures sent anywhere?
